Time Passages
For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.

“Without a Doubt”

There’s an old saying that “beauty is in the eye of the beholder.”  It implies that each person sees things somewhat differently concerning appearances, although many things may be common.  Tragically, however, most people take the same approach to truth.  While all of us would concour that “two plus two equals four” and “for every action, there is a reaction” we tend to take a much more casual approach to issues which have eternal significance.

When asking people to give their thoughts on God and eternity, the responses may be as varied as the number of people asked.  Many withdraw to the shelter of “everybody has their own opinions” or “as long as your good deeds outweigh your bad deeds.”  Most will take up an opinion that seems right and go about their day without ever searching into whether or not what they’re believing is accurate.  They are, in effect, playing Russian Roulette with eternity.

The truth is that there are absolutes.  There is absolute up and absolute down.  Likewise, there is absolute right and absolute worng.   There is’ in our hands, a manual that tells what is absolutely right and absolutely wrong and in it one finds the way to eternal life.  It is a book, written by several authors from every walk of life over a span of sixteen hundred years.  These authors didn’t know each other, and information had to be recorded by hand; one copy at a time.  Yet their words concerning God, humanity, and creation are in total agreement with each other.  This is a feat which, apart from divine inspiration, is mathematically impossible.

I’m referring to the bible; a book (actually a series of books) that has stood the test of time and is able to make one wise concerning the deep things of God.  One can turn search into it and know that what they’re reading is divinely inspired and profitable.  The bible isn’t simply a collection of theories and opinions, but is the living word of God that is able to make one wise unto salvation.  I would compel all to examine it for themselves; put it to the test and see if it truly is the word of God.

Going forth on this blog, the validity of the scriptures will be upheld in the posts to follow.  It will be the reference to everything written and proclaimed here as it is our final authority.  God keeps perfect records and has left a perfect record of himself for us to hold on to.  In closing this first post, I’ll leave with the following passages that testify to this.

Psalm 119:105  “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”

Isaiah 28:10  “For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

Isaiah 34:16  “Seek ye out the book of the LORD, and read: no one of these shall fail, none shall want her mate: for my mouth hath commanded, and his spirit it hath gathered them.”

John 1:1-3  “In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God.  The same was in the beginning with God.  All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

John 5:39  “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.”

I Peter 1:24-25  “For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass.  The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:  But the word of the Lord endureth forever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

I would admonish any to check these passages out along with the context in which they are written.  I would also encourage a reading of the gospels; Matthew mark, Luke and John.  The reason as to why this is important is that, as is mentioned beneath the blog title, we are spiritual beings.  Our time on earth is as a summer breeze that passes by once and is never to return.  But we will abide in eternity forever and as such this matter should be addressed with the utmost of urgency.  There will be more on this topic later along with other related topics.  The simple truth is that God, who created all that is, desires to have a relationship with you and “desires” that you would have eternal life.  I’ll close out with a passage that almost everyone has heard.

John 3:16-17  “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world,; but that the world, through him, might be saved.”

Jesus Christ; our Savior who came into this fallen world to save us from our sins.
